e-scapism photography is an independent, Australian owned picture library featuring premium rights-managed images of wildlife from Australia and New Zealand by photographers working in the fields of wildlife conservation and the environment
We are a family business interested in promoting conservation in Australia and New Zealand through brilliant and spectacular wildlife photography. Often the best way to capture peoples imagination, change a person’s perception, is through captivating and evocative pictures. We have selected the best images, from thousands of photos, to provide you the viewer with an interesting overview of Australia's and New Zealand's unique wildlife. The vast majority of photographs are taken by Nigel Cotsell but there are many others images representing the works of individuals working in the wildlife conservation and environment fields.
Nigel Cotsell has worked as an ecologist for over 18 years with conservation organisations in Australia and New Zealand. His passion for the biological world lead to an early interest in photography, particularly Australian wildlife. A great deal of travel ensued, capturing images of wildlife from biological 'hotspots' everywhere from desert dunes to tropical forests. Given the impossibility of shooting even a fraction of the countries biodiversity, we invited wildlife photographers from all over oceania to contribute. This has provided a more comprehensive digital wildlife resource with more species exhibiting a variety of natural life history behaviours.
Combined with the spectacular images, is a knowledge and understanding from years of working as an ecologist in a variety of locations throughout Australia and New Zealand. Often you will want to go beyond the image and know a little more about the animal in question, or perhaps how a particular photograph was taken. That's the personalised service we strive for at e-scapism photography.
This is a new venture. In future, we hope to contribute 10 percent of funds raised through this site back into a worthy conservation program each year. This will initially target programs in Australia or New Zealand but we hope to expand our scope to other projects outside Oceania.
