Jason Friend is an award winning, freelance photographer and writer based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England. Whenever he is not braving the British weather to capture evocative images of the Scottish Borders, Cumbria, Yorkshire or Northumberland, he escapes to some of the worlds most exotic overseas destinations in search of the perfect travel image.

A self confessed lover of travel, his overseas forays have taken him to over 30 countries in the continents of North America, South America, Asia, Australasia, Europe and Africa. These trips have led to his images and text being featured in a number of worldwide magazines and books. In addition, Jason is also the author of several books including Photographing Wilderness, Portrait of the Borders and Edinburgh Illuminated.
