We are looking for top-class images to publish in our UK-based photographic magazine. The magazine is designed to appeal to hobby photographers who use Canon digital SLRs - so all pictures submitted must, in turn, also be shot on Canon EOS digital SLR bodies (although lenses can be from any manufacturer)

We need a constant supply of inspirational images that we can use in our gallery pages, and to help illustrate our technique features.

Any subject matter is considered - however, the following will increase the chances of your pictures being used:
- landscape and outdoor pictures are favourites
- portraits are good, as long as they do not look too commercial
- pictures demonstrating strong photographic technique are good
- colourful images are good
- we try to keep content reasonably seasonal. We are currently working on late autumn, early winter issues (however, we will keep great unseasonal pictures on file until a time we feel they are better suited)

WATERFALLS IN SOUTHEAST ASIA AND SOUTHERN INDIA

I am looking for photographs of water-loving vegetation around the edges of waterfalls in Southeast Asia and southern India; typically the plants I am looking for grow in sunny and wet places next to waterfalls that are never completely dry. Waterfalls in deep shade or that become completely dry during the dry season are not likely candidates.

Prized scenic shots of waterfalls are common, but tend to be quite a distance from the subject in order to frame an entire waterfall.

I am looking for shots that are sufficient close to see herbs (0.5 - 1.5 m tall approx) in the foreground around the edge of a lower pool, or on the rock faces alongside a fall, or around the edge of an upper pool.

Such shots may be second grade from a scenic point of view (not always!), and I would be happy to look at images that the photographers might consider to be second-grade scenic views.

We are firm that markets diesel fuel additive products all over the world. What we are looking for are some photographs of heavy duty diesel equipment (Trucks, Mining, Construction, agriculture) in clearly 'Russian' settings for a Russian advertising program we are working on.

For example, if we could find a photo with a large diesel truck with one of those Russian onion looking buildings in the background, this would be excellent. Other pictures clearly showing agriculture equipment in Russian countryside could also work.

The Solidarity Center is an international non-profit worker rights organization with offices in 25 countries worldwide. We are looking for a cover photo for our Annual Report. We would like to highlight our work in the Americas, preferably with young women workers. The photo could be a portrait or a group shot, provided the group is actively engaged and at least one person is looking directly at the camera/reader. If it is a portrait of a single person, we would like the person to be empowered and again looking directly out. Some of the countries/themes we might illustrate are Afro-Brazilian workers, young Brazilian workers, Dominican domestic workers, Mexican journalists, Guatemalan dock workers or banana workers, informal workers in Bolivia or Ecuador . . . you can see that it is quite a long and varied list. A vertical shot would work best, with strong color to draw the eye into the report.

Unfortunately, we are on an extremely tight deadline and need to get at least a low-res version of the cover photo to our designers by COB tomorrow. Photographers Direct has been very responsive in the past and I hope that you will be able to provide what we are looking for.

ANIMALS AND HABITATS

HORIZONTAL OPENER SHOTS:

Looking for shots that can spread two pages-so, horizontal only. These shots need to be beautiful establishing shots, but need to accentuate the kind of environment. There MUST be an animal in the foreground or midground of the shot, but the landscape must be in focus, so we can seen the habitat. These MAY NOT BE composite shots. These are the locations/types of land I'm looking for with specified animal:

--Grassland (african) with a cheetah in it. Keep in mind this is NOT a closeup of the cheetah-it's about the landscape...and the cheetah in the landscape. Preferably green.

--Grassland (african) with a giraffe in it. ''

--Marine (UNDERWATER) - looking for images with either a coral reef as the main focus (doesn't matter where but must be amazingly colorful. And please DO NOT send me composite shots. If you are not sure, please check before you send the images.

--Marine (underwater) - with a seahorse, or a sea otter (enhydra lutris), or an octopus, or a GREEN sea turtle (has to be green in this case) - keep in mind it's about the environment so it would need to be a seahorse (etc) with an expanse of coral reef or such behind it.

--Desert - (doesn't matter where) - with a camel (with specifically one of these camels: Camelus bactrianus/Camelus dromedarius), or some kind of snake or lizard in the foreground....Keep in mind we must be able to see that it's desert environment.

--Forest - with Gray Wolf (canis lupus), or Mountain Gorilla (gorilla gorilla beringei), or racoon (procyon lotor). Keep in mind this is a WIDE establishing shot of the animal in it's environment.

ANIMAL SHOTS:
Looking for shots of these SPECIFIC animals. Typical portrait shots, as well as behavior shots noted below.

--GIRAFFE Giraffa camelopardalis (focus is on it's long neck-so images that show it's use in eating, and drinking etc.)

--BLUE WHALE Balaenoptera musculus (focus is on feeding, baleen, so need shots of eating-specifically shots of the baleen as well). Also need mom's and babies, and GOOD clear images of blue whales. Don't send shots that are hard to read and barely decipherable.

--Kangaroo Mouse or Desert Jerboa Microdipodops or Jaculus

--Camel (Camelus bactrianus/Camelus dromedarius) Need shots of floppy hump, portrait, camel in environment, desert adaptation etc.

--Snowy Owl Bubo scandiacus - Flying, eating, focus is on eating prey whole. So, that and cool portraits or flying/hunting shots and other shots.

--Mountain Gorilla - Gorilla gorilla beringei- Family oriented shots...mothers, babies, families, silverbacks with babies. Showing care, intelligence, eating, human traits.

--Beaver - Castor canadensis - nice beaver portraits (please some green if you have it!) and focus on dam building, shots related to dam building.

--Morpho Butterfly - Morpho Rhetenor -need shots of metamorphosis from catipillar to chrysalis to butterfly

-- Black-handed Spider Monkey - Ateles geoffroyi -need portrait shots, and specifically shots of hanging in trees, and the use of the prehensile tail. Focusing on it as a gymnast...but, if you have cute mom and baby shots send those too.

Car stopped at stoplight/red light at deserted intersection.

To depict the idea that we often do not break rules even when the benefits would be great and the punishment minimal.

There would be a gain in not waiting for a light to change by arriving earlier to destination and not wasting gas and oil. It is unlikely to get a ticket as there are no police officers around and the intersection is not monitored.

In spite of the benefits and lack of punishment, still wait for the light to change.

I am looking for a peacock photo, I want very deep colors; such as teal, blue, bright green, purple, and gold. I am not interested in photos where the you can see a background or the grass or anything like that I want more of a close up showing the peacocks face, which doesn't have to be centered, and the peacock feathers up, not laying down. More than anything I am looking for the deep colors. I want it pretty big, around 48 inches long, and the height to match the dimensions.
The photo needs to have both green and purple.
