| NEWSLETTER - DECEMBER 2003 |
| Well, it's the end of another year, and it certainly has been a momentous one for Photographers Direct. We now have well over 2,000 professional photographers from 70 countries registered on the service and close to 100,000 images online. Our photographers seem hugely supportive - finally they have a fast and easy way to deal direct with picture buyers and receive a decent return on their images. And we have more things planned for the New Year, particularly some great (and free!) services for picture buyers - stay tuned for details! Best regards, Chris Barton Photographers Direct - Fair Trade Photography. |

If you need to get attention, then Gary Bartholomew has the effects to get it. Using extreme high voltage he creates eye stopping images of custom subjects and shapes like this 10th Anniversary cover for a bank annual report. Using 8x10 film and a custom proprietary device and a little Photoshop he is usually able to manipulate voltage to get the effect he and the client are after. He has many stock images but is always looking for new subjects. John T. Fowler is a well-rounded stock photographer living close by Canada's capital city, Ottawa. Nearest thing to a "specialty" would be his insect photos, particularly butterfly images (The Butterflies of Canada, ISBN 0-8020-0898-4). In addition to much field imagery, John has copy stand images of every butterfly ever recorded in Canada, together with many tropical species and ready access to some of the largest lepidoptera collections in the country. Of late John has focused on conceptual imagery of butterflies - building on the contrasts of beauty/metamorphosis and fragility/strength of these iconic creatures. His images are often seen in advertising, education and editorial uses.
