Option A: Commission-based
You pay no upfront charges to market your pictures through Photographers Direct, but you must agree to pay 20% commission (25% when the sale was a result of a recommendation from another photographer) (+VAT in UK) on any sales through the service. Compare that to traditional agencies' commission rates, and maybe you will begin to understand why we talk about Fair Trade Photography!
With each Picture Search request you receive by email you will find a link to a page where you can upload images for the picture buyer to view. If they wish to buy any, the picture buyer will pay you directly and you will pay 20% commission (25% when the sale was a result of a recommendation from another photographer) (+VAT in UK) to Photographers Direct.
You will be allocated 10 megabytes of space for your images (enough for about 200 low res images). We rate all images that are uploaded and if your images are good you will be rewarded with extra space for more images. Each time you sell an image you will also be rewarded with an extra megabyte of space. Additionally, you can rent extra space at a small annual charge if you wish.
For a small annual charge, you can also set up a Photographer Portfolio and/or a Stock Source Portfolio to promote your work, or submit an entry to the monthly newsletters we send out to picture buyers. |

Option B: Subscription-based
New Picture Search requests, with the picture buyers contact details included, will be emailed to you each day. You can either contact the buyer direct or upload images onto the website for them to view. You pay no commission on sales through the email requests.
You will be allocated 40 megabytes of space for your images (enough for 800 images). We rate all images that are uploaded and if your images are good you will be rewarded with extra space for more images. Each time you sell an image (through the website) you will be rewarded with an extra megabyte of space. You can also rent extra space if you wish.
As a subscriber you can also include entries in our monthly newsletters (up to 4 entries a year) and set up both a Photographer Portfolio and a Stock Source Portfolio at no extra charge.
NOTE: While you pay no commission on sales of images through the Picture Search requests, if images are bought as a result of searches of the online database then 20% commission (25% when the sale was a result of a recommendation from another photographer) (+VAT in UK) is due to Photographers Direct. The online search database is not part of the annual subscription. |

If you are interested in the service, but are unsure whether a subscription will repay itself, you may be better off with the commission-based service.
You can register, and once your registration has been validated, we will email you the requests we receive each day. In this way you can get an idea of whether the requests we receive are suitable for you.
If you decide to change to subscription-based, all you need do is send us the payment and you will automatically be transfered to the subscription-based system. |

To qualify as a photographer rather than an agency, you can only be marketing/selling your own images.
