PHOTOGRAPHERS REGISTRATION
NOTE: Registration is only necessary for photographers wishing to sell pictures.
If you are a picture buyer, then you can go directly to the buyers page.

We can only represent experienced professional photographers. This is because our photographers deal direct with our clients, so we need them to understand how the industry works and how to interact in a professional manner. We expect you to:
- understand how the stock photography business works.
- know how to negotiate prices with picture buyers.
- understand terms such as 'model released', 'rights managed', 'royalty free', 'buyout', 'editorial usage'.
- have a good knowledge of photography in terms of composition, editing, using a camera on manual settings rather than on automatic and providing only PIN SHARP images.
- have a collection of AT LEAST 200 varied, high quality images, preferably many more.
If you do not understand this or do not know what F stop, depth of field, fill in flash, shutter speed, focal length, aperture or ASA mean, please do not apply.
If you photography consists of images of flowers in your garden, birds in the park, your children, your pets or your holiday pictures, we are not interested. Look here to see examples of the quality of photography we require.

IMPORTANT:

If you use a digital camera, your camera needs to be at least 6 megapixels, your images must be taken at the highest possible quality level/file size (preferably RAW format), and have dimensions of at least 3000 by 2000 pixels.

If you market any images through any of the microstock photography sites (examples are: 123rf, areaimage, bigstockphoto, canstockphoto, crestock, dreamstime, fotolia, gimmestock, istockphoto, luckyoliver, scandinavianstockphoto, shuttermap, shutterpoint, shutterstock, snapvillage, stockphotomedia, stockxpert, usphotostock) then we can not represent your work on Photographers Direct. Please do not register. Why?

We accept very few new applicants, and only those who can demonstrate their ability to produce a high volume of quality, original, varied, professional work.

The digital images on the Photographers Direct company website are available for licensing direct from the professional photographers who have submitted them. If you are interested in buying a picture license you can submit a 'purchase enquiry' by entering your contact details and either quoting your budget or asking the photographer to send you a quote for the use of their stock photos. Your query will be automatically emailed to the photographer and you will also receive an email with the photographer's contact details so you can contact them direct about their images. If you cannot find a photograph that is suitable for your needs on the website, please try our free online stock photography search service. We have photographic professionals for hire for assignments all over the world, so we have a good chance of finding any picture you need.
