IMAGE OF A STRONG FEMALE CHARACTER FOR NOVEL |

I am looking for a figure for the cover of a novel due to be published in August.
The novel is set in 1920s/30s North Carolina, and is about a very strong female central character that rules the book. She and her husband run a logging outfit, very rugged. Think Legends of the Fall/There Will be Blood movies for visual ref.
I need options for the figure of that central character.
She is a feisty, independent, spirited woman (definitely not a wimp) and we want to portray this on the cover. Suggest not making her face specific though – her as more of a silhouette in a landscape, or blurred running through the landscape, or a crop of her figure?
The shot does not need to be time specific and the figure will be superimposed onto a NC landscape.
What I really need to see is the strength and independence. This character is new to the mountains--but she soon shows herself to be the equal of any man: overseeing crews, riding a white Arabian horse effortlessly, wearing trousers, hunting rattle-snakes, even saving her husband's life in the wilderness. She goes on to ruthlessly kill or vanquish all who fall out of favour.

At five-nine, S stood taller than either man, but P knew other aspects of S’s appearance helped foster W’s obvious surprise—pants and boots instead of a dress and cloche hat, sun-bronzed skin that belied Serena’s social class, lips and cheeks untinted by rouge, hair blonde and thick but cut short in a bob, distinctly feminine yet also austere.
Their eyes shifted to the leather jodhpurs S wore, the beige oxford shirt and black boots. S’s proper diction and erect carriage confirmed that she’d attended finishing school in New England, as had their wives. But S had been born in Colorado and lived there until sixteen, child of a timber man who’d taught his daughter to shake hands firmly and look men in the eye as well as ride and shoot. |
