| | | | | | | | | For Dennis Frates it has been another productive late spring and summer, with photo trips to Badlands National Park, Crater Lake National Park, the Sonoran Desert around Scottsdale, Arizona, several Oregon public gardens, and the Oregon coast. As usual, Dennis came away with hundreds of images (just can't help himself), but just a handful of truly unique photographs. Check out the first 165 new images at www.fratesphoto.com
Upcoming trips Dennis has found it very difficult to plan photography trips because the weather seems to be less predictable these days. Finding peak fall color, for example, seems to be more of a last minute decision than ever before. Several locations are on his radar in the upcoming months: Lake Tahoe, California, North Washington Cascades, Anza Borrego, California, the Oregon Coast, the Big Island of Hawaii (that one is scheduled for sure) and Bora Bora in Tahiti. Other locations may be added or he may replace some of these.
Photography focus Since the day Dennis picked up a camera professionally over 25 years ago, his passion has been to create fine art images. He approaches every photo with the intent to make it a unique image with a strong emotional message. Of course, he does not always achieve this, and in fact, he only captures a small number of images each year that meet his high expectations. Dennis literally take many thousands of images each year, but it seems to take that many to come away with the few special ones he is after.
